15 undocumented Zimbabweans on way home arrested in South Africa

Ventersburg – According to Crime Watch Zimbabwe, 15 undocumented Zimbabweans were arrested yesterday in Ventersburg on their way to Zimbabwe.

Ventersburg is after Bloemfontein in the Freestate province. Of the 15, nine are men and 6 are women. The arrest was instituted during a crime combatting operation and the bus, belonging to Mhizha Tours, was at a truck stop when they were spotted by the police.

On the South African Police Service website, no mention was made of the nationality of the arrested. The following is what they reported on their website,

Ventersburg – Welkom K9 Unit members were busy with crime combatting operations in Ventersburg when a bus with foreign number plates was spotted at a truck stop on Monday, 20 March 2023.

The passengers’ travelling documents were checked. 15 occupants did not have passports and were arrested for Contravention of the Immigration Act. Another suspect was arrested for obstructing the cause of justice and Crimen Injuria.

The 16 suspects will appear in the Ventersburg Magistrate Court on 22 March 2023.
